New Projects
Project #1: Project Discover
Many of you have been wondering what I have been up to and this is it. My project was to find a kitchen table, 4 chairs, and a desk for $150 and I accomplished my task for $0!! We came up with the $150 budget because we knew we could get those things for that price from KMart. But I wasn't so nuts on the look of the KMart stuff, so I decided to find stuff on my own. One afternoon, I drove around town, not knowing where to go. On the first street I turned down, I saw a desk at the side of the road. It's pretty big and I knew I couldn't move it myself, so a neighbour lady came out and helped me move it to the side of the driveway, where we draped a tablecloth on it so nobody would see it and we could go back and pick it up later when Dave got home. On my way back to the apartment, pleased with my desk find, I thought `What are the chances that there would be a table and 4 chairs in good condition on the side of the road for free...' Well, to my surprise, on the last street I turned down, there were 2 tables and 7 chairs sitting on the side of the road! WOW! So we went and picked up 1 table and 4 chairs later that day as well. Mission accomplished!

The chairs were in rough shape when we got them. Here are the before pics:
So I went down to Ohio last week to visit my Aunt Eleanor, who needed some help with a project of her own, and in turn, she helped me re-upholster the chairs. Here are the after pics:
So, now you've seen some of what I've been doing the last few weeks.
