March Travel Plans
I booked some plane tickets yesterday, first from Houston to Detroit on Mar. 29 (to visit at Michigan), then from Detroit to NYC on Mar. 31 (to present at paper at Columbia), then from NYC back to Houston on Apr. 3 (to return to class).
I/we also have some other potential trips in the works. UIC has invited me up to Chicago (and offered me money to cover the cost), and we're thinking of going together for a few days during spring break. I might also try to get in a visit at UChicago while we're there. Arizona is going to get back to me about potential funds to cover a visit out there sometime as well.
Of the schools I have yet to hear from, if I got offers, I would also try to visit UNC, Cornell, UCSD, UPenn, and Maryland. I could probably join together a bunch of these visits, as the schools are kinda close to each other -- with the exception of UCSD. If all this works out, I will have been able to visit most of the schools I applied to (without having to pay for much of it out of pocket).
