Floating on TOOB 9

For our 4th anniversary Dave took me to Wimberly Texas to a Luxury Bed & Breakfast called Creekhaven Inn. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Wimberly is located south of Austin in the Hill Country. There is a creek that runs through the property with a swimming hole about 300 yds away that was voted one of Texas' Top 10 Swimming Holes. We walked to 'Blue Hole' and found that they had just finished filming a Disney movie called 'How To Eat Fried Worms' (It was a childrens novel). A security guard found us there and asked us to leave, after answering some questions!

On Saturday we drove through the Hill Country to a town called Gruene, to the Gruene River Company, where we rented toobs and floated down the Guadalupe River for about 4 hours! The river was moving very slowly and several times during the day I said to Dave "I don't think that we are even moving?!" Thank goodness for Dave's long arms! Almost like paddles! There were some slight rapids which made things exciting for a few minutes. It was such a beautiful day, hot and sunny, and the water refreshingly cold. After all the floating we got changed and went into the small town and had a drink at the oldest dance hall in Texas, Gruene Hall. Then we ventured to the Gristmill Restaurant that had 10 distinct dinning areas, all with spectaular views of the river.

Hrer are a few more pictures of our time in the Hill Country

PS, I *loved* reading How to Eat Fried Worms when I was a kid. Hopefully the movie will be cute too. :)
