One week to go!

So, it was my birthday yesterday (28, for those who are counting). Thanks to those who phoned, emailed, or snailmailed. It ended up being fine (although having Barb around would have been better). I worked at the office most of the day. A couple friends took me out for dinner and drinks to a fish taco joint, which was great. I'll also be celebrating with few other friends on Thurday. To be honest, I'm not sure there would have been a big to-do even if Barb was around; I don't usually get all riled up about my birthday.

Barb comes home in one more week! To the skeptics: I'm holding it together (so far). This time around (we did a two-week-apart stint at this time last year) I actually know a few people here, which makes single life a little easier. The apartment is still pretty clean (I'm actually never there to make a mess), I'm eating OK (I've been eating out more than usual), and most of the day I'm not too lonely (I'm working too much to think about it). But, life is certainly better when Barb is around, so even though things have been alright the last week, they will dramatically improve on August 8th.
